Anger Needs Direction is a death metalband from the Netherlands and founded in 2006. After beeing in search for a decent drummer, the band was finally complete in2008. It was time to develope a new weapon of war: modern death metal combined with deathcore and progressive elements.
After doing some gigs the band decided to record their first cd with 4 brutal songs. In cooperation with Jory Hogeveen from Pitch Note Productions (also guitarist of Tribal Spirits), 4 songs were recorded during 2010. Almost everything is recorded and arranged by the band itself even the art-work done by our vocalist Jeroen Schut.
Expect: technical guitar riffing, loads of tempo- and time shifts, brutal vocals, breakdowns and blastbeats. Now 2011 Anger Needs Direction is ready to conquer the Netherlands and hopefully outside their border.
Line-up:
Jeroen Schut (vocals) Kamiel Feiertag (rythm/lead guitars) Yuri de Wolf(rythm/lead guitars) Jacco van de Haar (bassguitar) Joerie Bakx (drums & percussion)
In the late summer of ’09, drummer Quint Meerbeek drove guitarist/vocalist Thomas Wouters home after Thomas did a gig with his previous band in Rotterdam. Not content with the band Thomas played in at that time, he asked Quint if he was interested in forming a brand new no-nonsense death metal formation. A few days later the two of them hooked up for a few beers to talk some shit over, and a week later they met in the rehearsal room. This combination seemed an instant success, and BODYFARM was born, hailing from their beloved hometown of Amersfoort. Heavily influenced by bands like Grave, Vomitory, Cannibal Corpse, Obituary, Morbid Angel, Massacre, Vader, and many others, they decided NOT to be a specifically innovative, technical or refreshing band: “We play plain death metal, and have fun while doing it. As long as it’s aggressive, catchy, groovy and raw we are good with it. We are not doing something new, we’re just doing what sounds good to us and try to keep it relatively primitive. Our only message is to enjoy death metal the way it’s supposed to sound”
BODYFARM is rehearsing weekly, working hard on their repertoire. Thomas and Quint decided to be the rock solid foundation, and creative force of the band to make sure BODYFARM will always keep it’s unique but recognizable sound. “So we went looking for musicians who wanted to play with us live, and eventually found them. Bram as a guitarist, and Mathieu, a bass player. Both experienced and fast learning musicians, and that is exactly what we’re looking for” BODYFARM is working hard on composing new songs every week to thrash with a worthy setlist. With succes! They have shared the stage with bands like HAIL OF BULLETS, HOUWITSER, and many others, and working hard on their live reputation.
BODYFARM just finished recording their first EP, which contains five professionally produced tracks. To approach the sound they want, they contacted their friend Harry van Breda from www.oerknalsudios.nl, who is also the vocalist for Dutch death metal band I CHAOS. He also plays session bass on this EP. You can order this EP via their Myspace page, just send them a message and check out their other merch too!
BODYFARM is currently signed with ABYSS RECORDS, so stay tuned for what’s more to come!

MORE ABOUT BRAINCASKET
Braincasket is formerly known as Temple Of Eternity (1998-2005). Since 2006, the name Braincasket was chosen because the name Temple Of Eternity sounds too much Gothic while the music sounds more brutal. In the early days, Influences were for example Paradise Lost, Slayer, Obituary and Morbid Angel. In 2006 the CD/DVD Satisfaction Of Putrefaction was released. It contains 6 deathmetal tracks and a DVD with a music video (spit on your grave), studio recording impression, live impression and photos.
At the end of 2006, Braincasket decided to split up with Johan (the drummer) and Mike (bassplayer). For about nine months Braincasket has been playing with Roelof van den Bos (drummer STOMA grindcore) and Gerben Suurmeijer (bassplayer Temple Of Eternity).
Summer 2007, Martin Kloosterman aka Lord Morba(drums) and Johan Flapper(bass) join Braincasket. Martin is known for his furious drumming in Morblast, Thy Withering Orchard and Johan for his crushing bass playing in Cephalic. With this line-up, the sound of Braincasket again changed dramaticly. New material with brutal blastbeats is written. Nowadays, influences are bands like Unmerciful, Origin, Beheaded, Dying Fetus, Hour of Penance, Deeds of Flesh, Defeated Sanity, Gorezone, Suffocation, Brain Drill, Gorgasm, Disavowed, Cryptopsy, Visceral Bleeding, Immolation, Severe Torture, etc.
In January 2010, Braincasket recorded 4 new tracks. The first studio tracks with Martin hitting drums and Johan playing bass! Check it out soon!
Chainsaw was formed in the summer of 1996. Numerous disasters plagued the band in the beginning: a schizophrenic drummer who suddenly disappeared, electrocution of the former bass- player who was in a car crash the same day, smashed hands, near fatal diseases and more of these delightful misadventures.
The curse was finally lifted in 2002: after a successful Tropical Storm Tour through the Caribbean, they released their 7” Chainsaw Is The Law single. Two years later the band signed with the Japanese record label World Chaos Production to release their first full-length Smell The Saw. Great reviews followed worldwide and by then the band had established a solid fanbase. After making the videoclips Master Of Fate and The Meat Factory, their bass player was replaced by Quinz. Chainsaw performed many bloodsoaked shows in Holland, Germany, Belgium, France and Luxembourg.
In 2008 Chainsaw signed with the Dutch metal label Meat Rackords and in 2009 they unleashed their brand new album Metal Missionary.
The oldest traces of the Crimson Falls date back to 2002 when the band was originally formed by Kristof (guitars), Ringo (guitars) & Sigi (drums). The line-up was completed in spring 2004 when Wim (vocals) joined the band. Together with original bass player Maarten this line-up started playing shows in August 2004. Crimson Falls released its debut mcd 'Ruins 2K5' in May 2005. This first effort put the band on the map in the metal & hardcore scene and got praised by an impressive series of national and international reviews. The release was followed by a huge amount of shows. Meanwhile the band got ready for the recordings of their first full-length label release.
In December 2006 'The True Face Of Human Nature’ came out on the reborn Shiver Records. The album, recorded, mixed and mastered at CCR studio (Aborted, In-Quest, Betzefer, Liar, Lengtche…), brings you 45 minutes of modern & hard-hitting deathMETALcore. ‘The True Face Of Human Nature’ features guest appearances by Svencho (Aborted) on ‘Controle Alt Delete’ and XCaroX (No Recess) on ‘Martyr Vs. Terrorist’. The artwork is conceived by Avernus Studios, a new design agency born out of the ashes of Dirge Design (Immolation, The Amenta, In-Quest…). An extensive booklet is added to this album with liner notes commenting every song, giving a deeper insight on the lyrical content.
After the release of the ‘The True Face Of Human Nature’, Crimson Falls concentrated on promoting the new album, playing numerous shows in Europe, with a performance at this year's Graspop Metal Meeting as the absolute highlight. During the recordings of the full cd bass player Maarten left the band. In September 2006 Tom Trancez stepped in to provide the necessary low end. Currently the band is writing new material for a next full-length release, while still crushing stages everywhere. The new album will be recorded in September/October 2008.
Crimson Falls blends a wide range of influences into an intense, passionate and crushing unity of death metal, metalcore and thrash metal. Expect fast and aggressive riffs, brutal mosh breakdowns, blistering blast, complex rhythms and melancholic melodies. The band proclaims a positive message of freedom, self-confidence and following your dreams, while other songs put the finger on the pulse of our modern society and it’s excesses. This one is for the moshers as well as the headbangers, the metalheads ànd the hardcore kids. No limits, no boundaries- Horns up.
For fans of All Shall Perish, Lamb Of God, The Black Dahlia Murder, Gojira & At The Gates.
In 2002 two acquaintances from Ede (Gelderland, NL), one looking for a drummer and one looking for a band decided to share their passion for music and formed a band. They jammed and experimented for a couple of years with several musicians and singers.
Grown up
Finally in 2006 they seemed to have found the perfect formation. Cult Ellifex was born. ‘Cultellifex’ is Latin for cutler. New and better songs were made, songs like Cut The Crap And Breathe, Highlight Of Stupidity and Scarred For Life. Melodic trash metalcore songs mixed with death and progressive elements of metal: loud, fast and tight main riffs, melodic harmonics and various vocals including grunts, screams and clean parts.
Loss and rebirth
After a couple of local shows in 2007 and 2008 the band had to break up with their former bass player and rhythm guitar player. Fortunately the band was able to arrange their replacement real quick. The band did a Photoshoot quickly followed by a show in Willemeen in Arnhem(Gelderland) and reappeared at the Geurfestival in hometown Ede. The band joined forces in the south of the country and played a show at the Tavenu in Waalwijk (Noord Brabant).
The sound of progress
Cult Ellifex finished recording their first EP cd in February 2009. The official release of its debut EP has been on the 25th of April in Ede. The band has competed at the Emergenza band contest at Tilburg (Noord Brabant). Cult Ellifex ended up in the final and played at the three stages of 013 Tilburg including the Dommelsch zaal.
Cult Ellifex describes itself as an innovative, critical and a conceited band with an energetic live show. With its energy, positive radiance and variable sound with different contrasts the band convinces a more various crowd than expected.
Prospects for the future
With their Debut EP the band is about to arrange as many show as possible, in and outside the region.
Cult Ellifex is busy writing new songs and finding a appropriate studio to prerecord the new material.
"Metal should be about aggression, a torrential influx of naked hate, not about love, hippieshit and all current popculture crap.”
Thus speaks T, vocalist and guitarplayer of dutch Death Metal outfit Cypher.
Formed in late 2003 by T (vocals, guitars) and Sander (guitars), Cypher was meant to be metal redefined: brutal, complex and sick as fuck... The name “Cypher” itself is a reference to a loss of individuality, self and identity, a theme pervading Cypher’s 2003 “Forward Devolution” promo. Furthermore, the band’s name adverts to concealed meanings in both lyrics and music. The line-up is completed late 2004 with Frank on drums and Pioko on bass.
The year 2006 sees the band inking a record deal with Rusty Cage records and releasing their debut album “Darkday Carnival”, an album that lyrically explores the darker side of the human condition, masked by more than 2000 years of deceit and corruption. Mixed, mastered and produced by Jochem Jacobs at Split Second Sound (Textures, In-Quest and many others), “Darkday Carnival was unequivocally received in the international press as a major promise. Cypher’s debut showcases the band’s technical prow ess, mixed with relentless brutality and aggression. A searing mix of all things brutal, “Darkday Carnival” destroys and improves the standards of metal, delivering a crippling blow in the face... From the unparalleled fury in the opening track “Fortune My Foe”, to the feast of sickness in the epic closing track “Darkday Carnival”, the band’s debut album is a discourse in darkness. The album got rated one of the 10 best releases in Aardschok magazine in November, a Gold rating in Mind-view and a prominent place on Terrorizer’s “Fear Candy” cd sampler. To further drive home the message that Cypher is a force to be reckoned with, established international brands like Schecter Guitars*, Engl Amps* and In Tune Picks* chose to endorse the band even before their debut al- bum “Darkday Carnival” was released.
Following the release of “Darkday Carnival”, Cypher played a multitude of shows, both at home and abroad, supporting acts like Marduk, Gorefest, Sinister, Unleashed, Sodom, Severe Torture, Death Angel and Leng T’Che to name but a few. Joost van der Graaf (bass, ex-Creepmime) is added to the ranks in 2007 and in december of the same year drummer Frank and the band part ways. Koen Herfst (Baggabownz, ex-Epica, ex-After Forever) quickly stepped in, making Cypher’s current live performance unmatched in their career, bringing crowd crippling aggression, brutality and fury to the stage.
After several years playing as "Peanuts" in the Netherlands, and also Germany and Belgium, the band decided October 2002 to change their name into DAY SIX. Day Six makes progressive rock, heavily influenced by various other musical genres like symfo, funk and every now and then even jazz. In addition to these influences, the band doesn’t shy away from experiments with sounds and samples. The band has been compared with established bands like RUSH, PINK FLOYD and DEEP PURPLE, as well as more recent groups as OPETH and DREAM THEATER.
In October 2003 Day Six released their debut album ""Eternal Dignity" in the Netherlands. Every sound and instrumentation to be heard on this album has been carefully considered and the result is definitely something for the band to be proud of!
When performing live, Day Six will even go a step further by using in their performance the same samples that can be heard on the album. The performance itself is one of the most remarkable aspects. “Awesome” and ”Incredible” are the most common reactions heard from the audience after a performance by Day Six.
2004 has been a very successful year for the band, being the winners of two big competitions in the Netherlands: the METALBATTLE and the Aardschok's METAL BASH. The price consisted of several days recording time in a professional studio. The band gratefully used this time to record their demo for the next album. This demo contains two tracks, which are part of the concept album of the band.
The bands upcoming new concept album – entitled The Grand Design – is mixed and mastered by Jochem Jacobs (Split Second Sound/Textures) and will be released under Lion Music on June 18th 2010.
With the oncoming release of the album " Domain ", Devious proves itself to be a first class act in the extreme metal genre.
On this album Devious combines modern death metal with its original trash roots in a unique way, with an emphasis on groove and variation.
After its establishment in 2000 by Frank ( drums) and Guido ( guitar),the band gave a lot of crushing performances in The Netherlands and beyond. In the current line-up,Devious shared stages with bands like Cryptopsy,Suffocation, Vader, Darkane ,Crowbar, Aborted, The Dillinger Escape Plan, God Dethroned, Malevolent Creation and Dying Fetus.
March 2006, Devious did a European tour with the Brazilian death metal pioneers Krisiun.
Devious' first full-length album " Acts Of Rage" was released on July 7th 2003 by Spitzenburg records." Acts Of Rage" recieved praising reviews and was recieved well by press and public.
Devious recently recorded its second album " Domain".This new masterpiece will not only feature 11 brutal tracks of grooving terror, but also a music video for the track " Room 302".
" Domain " will be released on February 1st 2007 through Deity Down Records.
Divine Sins is an upcoming force in Dutch metal. Combining several metal styles, from death to core and from black to thrash, they blend it to a moshing style of kick-ass metal. When Divine Sins plays live, you will get a pure aggressive act who would do their very best to blow the roof off the venue and to team up with the crowd to create an awesome night for everyone!
This five piece are out for mass destruction and total demise. Drain-Life, hail from Rotterdam, Netherlands and were formed late 1996, early 1997. Around that time they started out as a band with influences from bands like Madball, Sick Of It All and the stream of Metalcore bands at that period of time like: All Out War, Merauder, Morning Again, Arkangel and many more. Due to various struggles with bandmembers coming and going, it never really came of the ground. You could say it really started in 2004, when Drummer Joël joined remaining members York and Jon and made it a determined trio ready for war...
and a war it is; sharing de stage with Merauder, Sworn Enemy, 100 Demons, Kickback, Shattered Realm, Buldoze, Terror and many more but the struggles in the band where far from over...bassplayers and 2nd guitar players came and went but Drain-Life never stopped writing material! then it was done...long time friend Martin from Joëls old band Neurotic joined them on bass at last! and they have their five men mosh army once again... and after a decade, a dozen Tapes, a Demo CD, a Mini CD later they signed to CFC Records and released their full length 'A Prospect of Despair'
Through the many years they grew from a Hardcore band with Metal influences into a Metalcore band with brutal Death / Thrash Metal riffs with midd tempo Metalcore beatdowns and triplets, phat mosh parts and Hardcore breakdowns. Nowadays you can even find influences from early Death Metal, Norwegian Black Metal from the 90’s, the Bay Area Thrash from the 80’s and the New Wave of American Metal sound of today. Through dedication and determination they survived it all and their explosive and professional live performances is proof of just that and their reputation made them last countless shows everywhere, they are now maybe more motivated than ever to write better songs, greater records and doing even more shows Being in the game for more than twelve years, made them the hardest and longest running band in the Rotterdam area...
ENGINE OF PAIN is a metal band from the South of the Netherlands.
The band is founded in May 2003 by Maurice Brouwers and Patrick Waltmans.
Few weeks later Patrick and Maurice decided to ask the best Dutch grunter Nick Hameury (ex-Form), to join the new band. Ex-After Forever drummer Joep Beckers was interested to do the drums.
The foundation was established...
Several months after Engine of Pain was founded, Nick encountered Ruud Bänziger (ex-Defcon One). Ruud was the right person to complete the band and his inventive soloing and riffs pulled the band up to a higher level.
ENGINE OF PAIN recorded a MCDemo in February 2004 titled Here is the Pain! Thanks to this MCDemo the Wacken Open Air organisation decided to invite the band to play at WACKEN OPEN AIR (15th anniversary): one of the largest metal festivals of the world with 43.000 visitors that year. That same year ENGINE OF PAIN played the final of the well-known Dutch-Belgium band competition Jägermeister / Aardschok METAL BASH. Also Patrick was asked to be Dean Guitars USA Artist. In October 2005 the band started to plan and implement their next step: recording a professional full-length album including artwork. The result is a very tight, hard, aggressive, powerful and melodic album with strong, cool and contemplated lyrics and ditto artwork.
Their great debut album, called I Am Your Enemy, is released worldwide by Finnish label Lion Music Ltd on 26th of January 2007 and still gets raving reviews.
Beginning of December 2006 the band enlisted guitarist Bastiaan Kuiper (Stormrider) who replaced Ruud Bänziger. Due to his immigration to Spain, vocalist Nick Hameury left the band in July 2007.
As of August 2007, Rogier Stockbroecks a.k.a. Stocky reinforced Engine of Pain. Stocky’s previous band Powervice released a demo “Behold the hand of Glory” what was demo of the month in Rock Hard Germany nr. 224. Nowadays, the style of music could be defined as a perfect mixture between modern heavy metal, pounding thrash metal and a powerful sauce of catchy melodic metal vocals.
