Archaic Averno

Archaic Averno's music is firmly rooted in the old school thrash death-metal. However, the band is not afraid to add different styles and influences into their music. Archaic Averno do make use of different “gears”. An astonishing sense for catchy and melodic songs is a trademark of Archaic Averno's music. Twin guitar melodies, unexpected breaks and technical hooks, however, do not serve as a cover up for lack of inspiration, but are used as a tool to make songs more interesting and stronger. Add abundant variation in vocal styles and lyrics for a complete picture. Combined, this makes the distinctive and intense kind of monster metal Archaic Averno plays.

History

August 2007 marks the birth of a new band. Archaic Averno might be a relative new name in the world of metal, most of the band members themselves have been around for a long time in the scene. With (ex)members from Iscariot, Inquisition, Am Tuat, Graven Image, Victimizer, Goden and Fuelblooded; who shared stages with The Defaced, Darkane, Arch Enemy, The Haunted, Within Temptation, After Forever, Destruction and Entombed, this band brings experience from an unknown value to the existing metal scene.

Performance

Having Archaic Averno live on your stage means a real professional show. Head banging guitarists with flashing solo's, a real frontman who claims the stage and interacts with the audience... An outstanding drummer who keeps the rhythm tightly together and a steady, beautiful female bass-guitarist, a lust for the eye !! This band also stands for a guaranteed monster sound, by using their own sound engineer. Archaic Averno is definitely a must to see, for all melodic death-/thrash fans.

Members

The Archaic Averno line-up is currently as follows:

Vital Welten - Vocals
Andrew van der Schaft - Guitars, Backing Vocals
Bauke Valstar - Guitars, Backing Vocals
Marike Kruisselbrink-Pelzer - Bass
Tom Teunissen - Drums

Future

A late summer 2009 release is expected for the upcoming promo-Cd “One Hell Of A Monster” . In anticipation of the release, the band will hit the stage as much as possible to convince everyone of the power of Archaic Averno.

Prepare yourself for one hell of a monster ride !!!

Braincasket

Braincasket is a deathmetal band from the Netherlands, formerly known as Temple Of Eternity (1998-2005). Since 2006, the name Braincasket was chosen because the name Temple Of Eternity sounds too much Gothic while the music sounds more and more brutal.

Influences are for example Morbid Angel, Obituary, Cannibal Corpse, Dying Fetus.

In 2006 the CD/DVD Satisfaction Of Putrefaction was released. It contains 6 brutal tracks and a DVD with a music video (spit on your grave), studio recording impression, live impression and photos.

At the end of 2006, Braincasket decided to split up with Johan (the drummer) and Mike (bassplayer).

For about nine months Braincasket has been playing with Roelof van den Bos (drummer STOMA grindcore) and Gerben Suurmeijer (bassplayer Temple Of Eternity).

Nowadays Martin Kloosterman aka Lord Morba(drums) and Johan Flapper(bass) have joined Braincasket. Martin is known for his furious drumming in Morblast and Johan for his brutal crushing bass playing in Cephalic.

Now Braincasket sounds most brutal ever!

Chainsaw

Chainsaw was formed in the summer of 1996. Numerous disasters plagued the band in the beginning: a schizophrenic drummer who suddenly disappeared, electrocution of the former bass- player who was in a car crash the same day, smashed hands, near fatal diseases and more of these delightful misadventures.

The curse was finally lifted in 2002: after a successful Tropical Storm Tour through the Caribbean, they released their 7” Chainsaw Is The Law single. Two years later the band signed with the Japanese record label World Chaos Production to release their first full-length Smell The Saw. Great reviews followed worldwide and by then the band had established a solid fanbase. After making the videoclips Master Of Fate and The Meat Factory, their bass player was replaced by Quinz. Chainsaw performed many bloodsoaked shows in Holland, Germany, Belgium, France and Luxembourg.

In 2008 Chainsaw signed with the Dutch metal label Meat Rackords and in 2009 they unleashed their brand new album Metal Missionary.

CiLiCe

Dutch metal band CiLiCe has been formed by members of well known bands N3UK!, ORPANAGE and SMOGUS after these bands split up.
With a style similar to Meshuggah, Dillinger Escape Plan and Mike Patton these members are taking a big step further in metal music without ending up in pointless freaking. The bizarre riffs, the syncopated rhythms, the very divergent and mostly brutal vocals combined with lots of atmosphere are making the head-trip complete !!

The combination of both experienced and very driven musicians with different backgrounds in heavy music has already made many people requesting for the debut album, which is already finished and waiting for its release. The release date only depends on negotiations with several record labels.

As from April 2007 the band has started to play in Holland and abroad with a total of about 60 shows. Highlights have been tours that brought them to Germany,England,Switzerland and Brazil. In May 2008 the band will tour through Europe with the Brazilian band ' Torture Squad', furthermore a tour with the British band ' Tesseract ' is planned and later this year, according to plan, they will be facing Canada.

Crimson Falls (BE)

The oldest traces of the Crimson Falls date back to 2002 when the band was originally formed by Kristof (guitars), Ringo (guitars) & Sigi (drums). The line-up was completed in spring 2004 when Wim (vocals) joined the band. Together with original bass player Maarten this line-up started playing shows in August 2004. Crimson Falls released its debut mcd 'Ruins 2K5' in May 2005. This first effort put the band on the map in the metal & hardcore scene and got praised by an impressive series of national and international reviews. The release was followed by a huge amount of shows. Meanwhile the band got ready for the recordings of their first full-length label release.

In December 2006 'The True Face Of Human Nature’ came out on the reborn Shiver Records. The album, recorded, mixed and mastered at CCR studio (Aborted, In-Quest, Betzefer, Liar, Lengtche…), brings you 45 minutes of modern & hard-hitting deathMETALcore. ‘The True Face Of Human Nature’ features guest appearances by Svencho (Aborted) on ‘Controle Alt Delete’ and XCaroX (No Recess) on ‘Martyr Vs. Terrorist’. The artwork is conceived by Avernus Studios, a new design agency born out of the ashes of Dirge Design (Immolation, The Amenta, In-Quest…). An extensive booklet is added to this album with liner notes commenting every song, giving a deeper insight on the lyrical content.

After the release of the ‘The True Face Of Human Nature’, Crimson Falls concentrated on promoting the new album, playing numerous shows in Europe, with a performance at this year's Graspop Metal Meeting as the absolute highlight. During the recordings of the full cd bass player Maarten left the band. In September 2006 Tom Trancez stepped in to provide the necessary low end. Currently the band is writing new material for a next full-length release, while still crushing stages everywhere. The new album will be recorded in September/October 2008.

Crimson Falls blends a wide range of influences into an intense, passionate and crushing unity of death metal, metalcore and thrash metal. Expect fast and aggressive riffs, brutal mosh breakdowns, blistering blast, complex rhythms and melancholic melodies. The band proclaims a positive message of freedom, self-confidence and following your dreams, while other songs put the finger on the pulse of our modern society and it’s excesses. This one is for the moshers as well as the headbangers, the metalheads ànd the hardcore kids. No limits, no boundaries- Horns up.

For fans of All Shall Perish, Lamb Of God, The Black Dahlia Murder, Gojira & At The Gates.

Cypher

"Metal should be about aggression, a torrential influx of naked hate, not about love, hippieshit and all current popculture crap.”

Thus speaks T, vocalist and guitarplayer of dutch Death Metal outfit Cypher.

Formed in late 2003 by T (vocals, guitars) and Sander (guitars), Cypher was meant to be metal redefined: brutal, complex and sick as fuck... The name “Cypher” itself is a reference to a loss of individuality, self and identity, a theme pervading Cypher’s 2003 “Forward Devolution” promo. Furthermore, the band’s name adverts to concealed meanings in both lyrics and music. The line-up is completed late 2004 with Frank on drums and Pioko on bass.

The year 2006 sees the band inking a record deal with Rusty Cage records and releasing their debut album “Darkday Carnival”, an album that lyrically explores the darker side of the human condition, masked by more than 2000 years of deceit and corruption. Mixed, mastered and produced by Jochem Jacobs at Split Second Sound (Textures, In-Quest and many others), “Darkday Carnival was unequivocally received in the international press as a major promise. Cypher’s debut showcases the band’s technical prow ess, mixed with relentless brutality and aggression. A searing mix of all things brutal, “Darkday Carnival” destroys and improves the standards of metal, delivering a crippling blow in the face... From the unparalleled fury in the opening track “Fortune My Foe”, to the feast of sickness in the epic closing track “Darkday Carnival”, the band’s debut album is a discourse in darkness.
The album got rated one of the 10 best releases in Aardschok magazine in November, a Gold rating in Mind-view and a prominent place on Terrorizer’s “Fear Candy” cd sampler. To further drive home the message that Cypher is a force to be reckoned with, established international brands like Schecter Guitars*, Engl Amps* and In Tune Picks* chose to endorse the band even before their debut al- bum “Darkday Carnival” was released.

Following the release of “Darkday Carnival”, Cypher played a multitude of shows, both at home and abroad, supporting acts like Marduk, Gorefest, Sinister, Unleashed, Sodom, Severe Torture, Death Angel and Leng T’Che to name but a few. Joost van der Graaf (bass, ex-Creepmime) is added to the ranks in 2007 and in december of the same year drummer Frank and the band part ways. Koen Herfst (Baggabownz, ex-Epica, ex-After Forever) quickly stepped in, making Cypher’s current live performance unmatched in their career, bringing crowd crippling aggression, brutality and fury to the stage.

Deathfall

In 1994 five guys got together to play some tunes in the drummers basement and soon Rimmshot was born.Starting out with some own written material and some metal/hardcore covers they started doing some shows in Holland. Not so long after they developed their own distinguished sound.

Due to their gigs the band got picked up by Theo Coumans ( The Noizz & Gangstyle records).

He made sure their first demo was recorded in 1996 called "Get Out Of My Way".After selling quite a few of these ripping demo's Theo thought it was time to record their debute CD in 1997 called " Denial Of Truth".Throughout the years Rimmshot wrecked some stages with bands like Blood For Blood, Cold As Life, 25 Tha Life, Biohazard, Crowbar, All Out Of War, Kickback, Warzone, Tech 9, Discipline, Right Direction, Backfire and more, the band got an offer from the belgian " I Scream Records" to record 5 songs for a compilation CD with five other bands in 1999.It was called " The New League Of Hardcore Volume 1".A few thousand copies were sold in Europe and a tour through Holland, Belgium and a small part of Germany was done together with Born From Pain (NL) and Cold As Life (USA).

In 2000 it got a bit quiet around the band due to the lead guitarist/vocalist Ramon's work abroad. After coming back in 2002 the band picked up their gear again to start working on new material. After being away for 2 years the band realized it was hard to gain the trust of their fans again. But not wanting to give up on music they rehearsed like hell and played gigs where ever possible to let themselves be heard.

Not being under Theo's management anymore they decided to record the next album self financed. This album was called "The Darkness In Me" and was released in 2003.The band got positive reactions on the album from everywhere. The musical style has always been leaning more towards metal then hardcore, but on this album you could hear the mature growth of the band throughout the years.Sounding more technical and groovier then ever.Because Rimmshot always played with hardcore bands they were 'pushed' into a hardcore cubicle. It was hard for the band to get gigs with other metal bands.

Seen this last fact Ramon thought it was time for a new name for the band in 2005.A name that would be compatible with hardcore, metal and even death metal.A name so easy to remember. This name would be : DEATHFALL.

2006 was the year Deathfall signed a record deal with Burning Stars Records from Greece. The crown on their work so far is baptized in blood called "Reborn" and will be officialy released in 2007.

Because Roel (drummer) is on tour with Born from Pain,Deathfall found trust in the mighty fast blasts of Sylvy Notermans. She is the helping hand when Roel is gone.

So still alive and breathing DEATHFALL hopes they can bring the hardcore and the metal crowd closer together and to spread their music around the world.

So keep your eyes and ears open for the offical release!

Engine Of Pain

ENGINE OF PAIN is a metal band from the South of the Netherlands.

The band is founded in May 2003 by Maurice Brouwers and Patrick Waltmans.

Few weeks later Patrick and Maurice decided to ask the best Dutch grunter Nick Hameury (ex-Form), to join the new band.
Ex-After Forever drummer Joep Beckers was interested to do the drums.

The foundation was established...

Several months after Engine of Pain was founded, Nick encountered Ruud Bänziger (ex-Defcon One). Ruud was the right person to complete the band and his inventive soloing and riffs pulled the band up to a higher level.

ENGINE OF PAIN recorded a MCDemo in February 2004 titled Here is the Pain!
Thanks to this MCDemo the Wacken Open Air organisation decided to invite the band to play at WACKEN OPEN AIR (15th anniversary): one of the largest metal festivals of the world with 43.000 visitors that year.
That same year ENGINE OF PAIN played the final of the well-known Dutch-Belgium band competition Jägermeister / Aardschok METAL BASH.
Also Patrick was asked to be Dean Guitars USA Artist. In October 2005 the band started to plan and implement their next step: recording a professional full-length album including artwork. The result is a very tight, hard, aggressive, powerful and melodic album with strong, cool and contemplated lyrics and ditto artwork.

Their great debut album, called I Am Your Enemy, is released worldwide by Finnish label Lion Music Ltd on 26th of January 2007 and still gets raving reviews.

Beginning of December 2006 the band enlisted guitarist Bastiaan Kuiper (Stormrider) who replaced Ruud Bänziger. Due to his immigration to Spain, vocalist Nick Hameury left the band in July 2007.

As of August 2007, Rogier Stockbroecks a.k.a. Stocky reinforced Engine of Pain. Stocky’s previous band Powervice released a demo “Behold the hand of Glory” what was demo of the month in Rock Hard Germany nr. 224. Nowadays, the style of music could be defined as a perfect mixture between modern heavy metal, pounding thrash metal and a powerful sauce of catchy melodic metal vocals.

Escadron

The story of Escadron started in the summer of 2003, when drummer Adriaan and guitarplayer Wouter started another project together again. After a few months, singer Jasper and bass player Ype were added to the project, which quickly grew into a real band. After six months, the band chose to label themselves ' Escadron '.

Not long after that, Anibal hooked up with the band to be the second guitarist.Speaking of today, the sound of Escadron is mainly based on modern, fast and technical trash metal.Furthermore, you can expect some death metal riffs, blastbeats and very melodic parts, all in dedication to the power of the riff and the song.Good references are bands like Hatesphere, At The Gates, Municipal Waste, Defleshed and Death.

The first Escadron-demo was released in 2005.The metal press reactions on this release were quite overwhelming, and after the release the band played a lot of shows. In January 2006, Escadron won the InHolland Popprijs at the legandery venue Melkweg,Amsterdam. This victory was followed by interviews and articles in different newspapers.
In the rest of the year,Escadron has played Noordschok, and appeared in the final of the Metal Battle. In 2006, both Anibal and Wouter departed from the band.

Together with the new guitarplayer Mendel, Escadron continues playing shows and finishing their first album. The band has already shared bills with trash metal acts like Hatesphere, Municipal Waste, Onslaught,Sadus,Darkane, and Toxic Holocaust. The band also played on death metal shows with bands as Deicide,Severe Torture,Visceral Bleeding and Gorefest and even appeared in front of a hardcore crowd with Madball,Sworn Enemy,No Turning Back and Rise & Fall.

In the first months of 2008, Escadron recorded their first album, entitled ' Tide of the Fallen ',which will be released June 6, 2008 !

FENRIS

Originally formed in 1997, Fenris has a 10 year history of combining thunderous viking metal with scorching black metal. At times blindingly fast, sometimes atmospheric, but always melodic and dynamic. With strong roots in Nordic mythology, and some of the lyrics in their mother tongue, the mood set is that of ancient peoples, their hopes and beliefs and their wars and hardships. To date, two albums have been released: 'Offerings to the Hunger' (2001) and 'Ordeal' (2005), the last of which was an unsigned release. Fenris is currently looking to sign with a record label.

Fenris was founded in the first winter of 1997 by Bas Westdorp and Vasco. Shortly after that, Gilbert de Rooy joined the guys as a lead-singer. The band's main objective was to make dark and atmospherical black/viking metal with a deep musical approach. In May 1997 Paul van der Zouwen took his place on the drum seat and for the first time, the four guys formed a steady and complete band. Musically, Fenris combines originality, aggression and power to create a broad black-metal repertoire. The lyrics are, among other topics, about pre-Christian beliefs, spirituality, human suffering and a sense of connection with nature and the elements. The lyrics form an important aspect within the creative cycle of the band. For its stronger cultural effect, some of the lyrics are sung in Dutch, the band's native language.

Late '97 the band recorded their first demo tape, 'Words of the Ascended'. The tape was received well by various metal zines such as Aardschok Metal Magazine that heard much potential in the music and held big expectations for the future. In November 1998 the band engaged keyboard player Walter Romberg, giving the sound of Fenris an even deeper and melodic effect. Despite a period of successful gigging, drummer Paul left the band in May 1999. Shortly after that the guys found a talented new drummer, Arjan Griffioen, who previously played in the death-metal band Concrete Earth. Thanks to Arjan's ferocious and attacking drum style and the maturing process of the band in general, Fenris started to work on a more aggressive repertoire with an even higher musical quality. Over the next two years, this new repertoire formed the basis for their debut CD.

Early 2001 their full-length debut album 'Offerings To The Hunger' saw the break of dawn. The small record label Teutonic Existence / Firebreath signed the guys due to the grown popularity of Fenris in the extreme-metal underground scene. In Russia and eastern Europe 'Offerings...' is distributed by CD-Maximum. As with 'Words Of The Ascended', 'Offerings To The Hunger' was reviewed very well by metal press all over the world. A period of successful gigs soon followed the release of 'Offerings...'. However, the gods put the band's existence to the test during the year 2002. Various problems caused the departure of drummer Arjan and keyboard player Walter. The rest decided to move on however and started looking for a new drummer.

After a 7 months breakdown they finally found one in Rick Lieffering, a young and talented percussionist from their local area. Together with Rick, the remaining members of Fenris feverishly started working on new material to form the next chapter in the creative history of the band. Problems with rehearsal rooms, a wrist injury of Rick and a lack of proper gigs put Fenris to the test however. This slowed the writing of new material. In november 2004 the band finally went into the studio to record their new album, 'Ordeal', wich was released a couple of months later. The music on the album is dark, epic and aggressive and forms Fenris' most creative work of art to date.

Then, after 9 years of loyal service, Vasco decided to leave the band. Fortunately, quickly a new bass player was found in Joris van den Heuvel, who was again replaced by Brian.

For the first time since its inception, Fenris now has 2 guitar players. With Jan-Willem as a 2nd guitarist the live sound gained a lot of gut.

Fenris is:
Gilbert - vocals
Bas - guitars
Jan-Willem - guitars
Brian - bass
Rick - drums
